International Premature Baby Day
The International Day of the Premature Baby is celebrated on November 17. According to the World Health Organization, more than one tenth of all babies born are premature babies.
The birth of a baby is a happy event in the life of a family, but the birth of a premature baby often becomes a serious test for parents. Therefore, the purpose of this holiday is to draw attention to the problems of premature babies and their families.
Premature birth occurs for various reasons. They are often spontaneous. The cause of premature birth can also be infections in the mother and other pregnancy complications that require early induction of labor or cesarean section. A certain role may be played by a genetic predisposition.
About 4% of premature newborns are born in the Republic of Belarus every year.
In the HCI "Clinical Maternity Hospital of the Minsk region" in 2022, 211 girls and boys were born prematurely, of which 6 babies were born with a body weight less than 1,000 g. From the moment of birth to discharge home, every premature baby goes a long way, starting from the pediatric intensive care unit and then continuing examination, treatment and rehabilitation in the pediatric department for newborns (with perinatal pathology and premature babies). The team of the HCI "CMHMR" uses modern technologies in the treatment and nursing of prematurely born babies, helping babies and their mothers to get home as soon as possible.
We always sincerely rejoice in the success of our young patients and sincerely wish strength, patience and faith to parents!
