Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation (for newborns)

The main tasks of the department:

• Provision of highly qualified anesthetic and resuscitation care for newborns, implementation of a long-term program of intensive nursing and early rehabilitation of premature babies with very low and extremely low birth weight;
• Always ready to provide emergency care for newborn babies. The department always has a prepared resuscitation place equipped with an incubator, a ventilator;
• Providing counseling assistance to newborns from other departments;
• Working closely with obstetric departments: providing early warning of anesthesiology and neonatal resuscitation department staff about upcoming premature or pathological births;
• Ensuring sanitary and anti-epidemic measures and prevention of nosocomial infections at the modern level;
• Training base for specialists (neonatologists, anesthesiologists-resuscitators) of the Minsk region, improving their qualifications;
• Strict observance of the rules of ethics and deontology by employees, which allows maintaining a healthy microclimate both in the department itself and when communicating with patients' relatives.

Medical and functional capabilities of the department:

• Provision of resuscitation care to newborns immediately after birth in the operating room, delivery room and their transportation to the OARN;
• Providing a comfortable medical and protective regime, including for critically ill patients, including children with very low and extremely low birth weight;
• Monitoring vital signs using multifunction monitors;
• Providing respiratory therapy using various ventilation modes, including high-frequency oscillatory ventilation;
• CPAP non-invasive respiratory support;
• Conducting surfactant therapy (prophylactic and / or therapeutic);
• Full or partial parenteral nutrition;
• Provision of infusion-transfusion therapy, including the use of donor blood components, immune replacement therapy; correction of hemostasis;
• Replacement blood transfusion surgery for hemolytic disease of the newborn.
