The main tasks of the department:
- Conducting ultrasound examinations of the fetus, uterus and appendages during pregnancy at the time specified by the normative documents of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus to identify markers of chromosomal diseases and congenital malformations of the fetus;
- Carrying out ultrasound examinations of the fetus, uterus outside the screening timeframe in various clinical situations arising during pregnancy;
- Doppler assessment of the fetal circulation and uterine arteries;
- Conducting ultrasound examinations in gynecological pathology, including examinations of childhood pathology;
- Conducting ultrasound examinations of the mammary glands, thyroid gland and superficial organs;
- Performing manipulations under ultrasound guidance;
- Conducting ultrasound examinations of internal organs and retroperitoneal space for patients of a maternity hospital, including the intensive care unit;
- Conducting ultrasound examinations of the brain, abdominal cavity, retroperitoneal space, hip joints, soft tissues and Echo-KG in newborns.
Medical and functional capabilities of the department:
- There are 7 doctors in the department as main employees and 5 part-time doctors. 5 doctors have the highest qualification category and one - the first. Among the part-time workers there is an assistant of the department of BelMAPO with the highest qualification category, 2 neonatologists, a mammologist and a pediatric gynecologist;
- Ultrasound examinations are carried out on expert and high-class scanners. The scanners are located both in the ultrasound department and in the departments of the maternity hospital. If it is necessary to conduct a study directly in the ward or to provide ultrasound imaging for various gynecological procedures, portable scanners are used.
