Cytology laboratory

The main tasks of the department:

• Placement of a cytological laboratory in rooms that correspond to modern ideas about a laboratory in a medical diagnostic institution;
• Equipping the cytological laboratory with a modern material and technical base (microscopes, equipment, furniture, etc.);
• Internet connection in the cytology laboratory for the possibility at workplaces to study medical issues related directly to the professional activities of a doctor in laboratory diagnostics of a cytology laboratory or a paramedic laboratory assistant in a cytology laboratory;
• On-the-job training by specialists with extensive work experience for young specialists with less work experience in case of controversial issues in the formulation of a cytological conclusion;
• Comparison of the cytological research method with the final cytological conclusion in leading oncological institutions during the revision of cytological preparations (in cases of oncopathology);
• Comparison of the cytological conclusion of the cytological laboratory with the histological conclusion, with the maintenance of the corresponding documentation and the possibility of visits of the doctors of the laboratory diagnostics of the cytological laboratory to the base of the pathoanatomical bureau;
• Assistance and consulting of cytological preparations, which are difficult in the interpretation of the microscopy result, from the cytological laboratories of the Minsk region.

Medical and functional capabilities of the department:

• Microscopic examination of gynecological material as part of preventive examinations of the female population;
• Microscopic examination of cytological material in the framework of diagnostic studies from the cervix and cervical canal, vagina and vulva, culldocentesis, IUD prints;
• Microscopic examination of cytological material taken during aspiration from the uterine cavity;
• Microscopic examination of scrapings and discharge from the surface of erosions, ulcers, or wounds, fistulas, or the nipple of the mammary gland;
• Microscopic examination of smears from the surface of tumor-like or pigmented formations of the skin;
• Microscopic examination of sputum, smear-prints taken during bronchoscopy;
• Microscopic examination of smears-prints obtained intraoperatively from formations of various localization;
• Microscopic examination of cytological preparations during puncture of the mammary, thyroid or prostate gland;
• Microscopic examination of cytological preparations taken during puncture of the liver, pancreas, testicles or ovaries, or soft tissues, lymph nodes;
• Microscopic examination of biological fluids (pleural, ascitic, cerebrospinal, etc.)
• Microscopic examination of cytological preparations taken from the gastrointestinal tract during endoscopic examination;
• Revision of finished preparations from the cytological laboratories of the Minsk region for the final cytological conclusion.
