The main tasks of the department:

• Ensuring safe motherhood - a set of measures aimed at reducing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality;
• Maintaining a high professional level of employees;

• Implementation of the basic principles of «Hospital friendly to the baby»: latching the newborn to the breast within 30 minutes after birth, staying with the mother and the baby together, feeding the baby on demand.

Medical and functional capabilities of the department:

• Providing care for women in childbirth on the basis of a therapeutic and protective regime;
• Providing emergency medical care to women in childbirth in life-threatening cases (shock, bleeding, gestosis, hypertensive crisis, etc.);
• Organization and conduct of the necessary diagnostic studies for the diagnosis, implementation of the necessary treatment (ECG; consultation of a therapist, endocrinologist, dentist, mammologist; ultrasound of the pelvic organs, R-graphy of the pelvic bones and others);
• Consultations of puerperas with a complicated postpartum period with the head of the department, with the deputy chief physician for the medical part, employees of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Bel MAPO, with doctors of other specialties;
• Carrying out treatment of postoperative wounds on the anterior abdominal wall, perineum, performing minor surgical interventions according to indications (curettage of the uterine cavity, secondary sutures, etc.), according to indications, the appointment of physiotherapeutic procedures; psychotherapist consultation;
• Compliance with the established daily routine and compliance with the sanitary and epidemiological regime in the department,
• Conducting conversations about postpartum hygiene, the importance of breastfeeding for newborns, the technique and benefits of breastfeeding; contraception, healthy lifestyle.
• Helping mothers in the first attachment of the baby to the breast, learning the technique of breastfeeding, expressing the mammary glands if indicated.
