The goal of World Diabetes Day is to raise awareness of diabetes, focus on lifestyle choices for diabetes, and how the disease can be prevented. On this day, state and public organizations, doctors and nurses remind people about the problem of diabetes mellitus and the need to unite efforts to change the situation for the better.
This year's World Diabetes Day will be celebrated under the motto "Nurses matter." The role of the nurse is not only important but also significant. She is required to strictly fulfill all the doctor's prescriptions for patients with diabetes mellitus, the presence of such invaluable qualities as humanity and compassion, communication skills and responsiveness.
In the Republic of Belarus, World Diabetes Day is held from 11/11/2020 to 20/11/2020 as part of the "World Diabetes Day - nurses matter" campaign. The relevance of the World Diabetes Day for Belarus lies in the fact that at the beginning of this year, under the supervision of an endocrinologist, 352,538 patients with diabetes mellitus, including 18,110 with type 1 diabetes mellitus, including 2,438 children, were under the supervision of an endocrinologist. Today there are 77,300 insulin-dependent patients, including 2,438 children.
