The public association "Belarusian Union of Women" was founded on December 14, 1991. On a voluntary basis, it unites women's councils created in all regions, districts, cities, in many labor collectives and at the place of residence.
Goals and objectives of the BUW:
- raising the status of women in society, their role in all areas of the country's life;
- achieving civil harmony in society, peace among peoples, elimination of all forms of violence and discrimination;
- organization of educational and consulting activities;
- promoting the protection and improvement of women's health, improving the quality of their life;
- charitable activities;
- protection of the rights of women, children, strengthening the family;
- carrying out international activities using the methods of women's diplomacy.
